Program Description:
This programme prepares trainees for chartered status as a counselling psychologist with the British Psychological Society (BPS). All candidates must have the graduate basis for registration (GBR) of the BPS, a 2:1 degree in psychology, and experience of working in an emotionally demanding helper role. They will also be required to complete successfully the “Introduction to Counselling Psychology Practice” offered by Roehampton University. The relational philosophy underpinning the previous programme has been developed further by the course team to form an integrative relational model, which will be the main therapeutic approach and the overarching framework of the new programme. Candidates should be aware that they can only be admitted to the programme if they have graduate basis registration of the British Psychological Society. Offers of places cannot be made until after this has been confirmed in writing by the BPS.
