Program Overview

Program Description:

Chemical engineering is part of a rapidly expanding field, one that requires interdisciplinary engineers educated in both the molecular and medical sciences. With each important discovery in the health and industrial sectors, we rely on these chemical engineers to develop and implement these innovations effectively on a large scale.

The MS in Chemical Engineering program at NYU-Poly prepares you to fulfill this unique function role. Our curriculum introduces you to advanced design methods and provides an in-depth look at the research and development process. Many obstacles are involved in the production, usage, and treatment of chemicals and biochemicals; our job is to equip you with the problem-solving strategies to effectively combat them. Obstacles in the production, usage, and treatment of chemicals and biochemicals are bound to come up during that process, but we teach you the problem-solving skills to surmount them.

We also want you to be in control of your own educational destiny. You can choose from 2 tracks of study and elective subjects that cover a wide terrain: everything from drug delivery and nanotechnology to protein engineering and biomolecular diagnostics.

Professional Opportunities

In the coming years, we expect to see a significant increase in the demand for capable chemical engineers. Our graduates will be able to explore a number of exciting fields — from chemical manufacturing, energy production, and health care to biotechnology, nanotechnology, and environmental and consumer safety.

Goals and Objectives

With the MS program in Chemical Engineering, our goal is to help you:

  • Absorb the fundamental principles of chemical engineering subjects;
  • Complete preliminary training in preparation for a doctorate in chemical engineering;
  • Enhance your mathematical, analytical, and computer skills, while exposing you to advanced design concepts;
