Program Overview

Program Description:
The purpose of this program is to respond to the growing importance of international health and is open to anyone with an interest in this area. Students will have the opportunity to learn firsthand about the health care system in Belize and health issues related to atropical climate.

The goals of this course include: -Examining the health care system of Belize. -Gaining insight to the culture of Belize through host families. -Taking a glimpse into the Garifuna language and culture. -Interacting with natural healing and Herbalists. -Connecting with students from University of Belize -Networking with students from HHS programs

-Students will describe the structure and services of the health care system in Belize. -Students will describe alternative health care in Belize. -Students will network with health sciences students from HHS and from the University of Belize
