Program Description:

AIMS This is an interdisciplinary degree programme that investigates central issues of global justice: the debate between relativism and universalism, the foundation and content of human rights, responses to global poverty and inequality, cosmopolitan democracy, and environmental justice. As well as learning to think critically about these issues, you will develop a deeper and wider understanding of world politics. Optional modules enable you to explore further the origins, discourses and consequences of these important political currents, and to examine ethical approaches to war and terror. PROGRAMME DESCRIPTION You take compulsory modules (40 credits) in: global justice and human rights; and theories and approaches in the study of politics - power and democracy. You also choose optional modules (80 credits) from: war, terrorism and peace - ethical perspectives; theories of ethics; critical geopolitics; international relations theory; the politics of global change; democracy in divided societies; global justice and climate change. You also write a dissertation (60 credits) which focuses on a topic or issue in global justice and ethics.
