Program Description:

New York Film Academy (NYFA) Shanghai offers a hands on and intensive Acting for Film summer program. The Four-Week Acting for Film Workshop allows students to participate in a short training program that demands full immersion into learning the craft. The program provides students with a thorough foundation of acting skills with a specific focus on acting for film. Many students find the one-month length fits conveniently into their yearly schedules. The workshop is a full-time program. 

Like all NYFA programs, students learn from experienced and professional filmmaking and acting instructors and live with, study with, and create their works with students from all over the world, including many Chinese students. The facilities and the equipment used is state-of-the art. NYFA’s are programs open to all students with any level of experience. Our programs are valuable to students from nearly all disciplines that are seeking the benefits of a hands-on and intensive arts education, to enhance life skills, tell better stories, or develop their presentation skills.

Classes emphasize the basic elements of the craft of acting, scene study, and monologue work as starting points. In conjunction with these classes, students participate in courses aimed specifically at training the actor for the technical requirements of acting on a film set.

Setting Description:

Located in the Zhangjiang High-Tech Park area in the new and exciting Pudong district of Shanghai, students are encouraged to utilize the city of bustling Shanghai as a backdrop for their creativity.
