Program Overview

Program Description:
In addition to working on academic and artistic projects, students travel to many of the historical and cultural centers of Japan including stays in Kyoto, Tokyo, and Hiroshima. For the bulk of the trip, students stay in Niigata in a home stay with Japanese college students and their families. Students participate in group art projects and visit several museums and galleries.

Students take a three credit liberal arts class, Contemporary Japanese Language and Culture, and a three credit studio art class that explores Japanese art and design.

The Program fee includes round-trip airfare from Boston to Tokyo, transportation around Japan (trains, busses, and ferries) when traveling with the group, two three credit courses, housing with host families in Niigata, two meals/day with host families, and stays at travel hotels or youth hostels for weekend travel.
