Program Description:
The programme was developed in response to the huge interest and wealth of scholarship in imperialism and global history as an academic discipline, and as a way of understanding contemporary world conflicts, the impact of the Cold War, migrations, racism, liberation struggles, ethnic violence, settler regimes, political change and cultural exchanges. Applicants should have at least an upper second class honours degree or its equivalent in any discipline and a commitment to exploring the history of imperialism across a broad time frame and in different continents. You will take the specialised imperial history core course, Empire, Colonialism and Globalisation, which has been developed with experts in the Government department. Then you have the freedom to specialise in your two other papers and your 10,000 word dissertation. Core courses: empire, colonialism and globalisation; 10,000 word dissertation.
