Program Overview

Program Description:
This programme is intended for graduates in history, geography, anthropology and other arts degrees as well as related social sciences, such as economics, politics and sociology (prior knowledge of economic theory is not essential). The programme was developed in response to the maturation of global history as a field; by the contribution of economic history and social science based approaches to the framing and content of the field; and by the increasing involvement of members of the department in this area. To achieve coherence and rigor, the focus is specifically on economic change considered in its cultural, social and political contexts. The MSc comprises common full unit core courses that provide a general grounding in major processes and debates in global history over the last millennium; a compulsory half unit course introducing central debates and key analytical tools; a choice of one half unit option from a menu of sharply focused special subjects; and a 10,000 word dissertation.
International Requirements:
IELTS 7.0 or TOEFL 627
