The programme in Russian and Eurasian Studies was initiated in 1985, a result of spontaneous cooperation between staff members of the departments of Slavic Languages, History and Eastern European Law. Since its foundation, over 150 students have obtained a degree in Russian Studies. Although the contents of the courses have repeatedly been adapted to suit the changing Russian reality, the underlying principle has not changed. At the basis of Russian Studies lie an excellent command of Russian and the study of Russia from four different academic disciplines: history, political science, economy and law.
