Program Overview

Program Description:
The Erasmus Mundus Master in Sustainable Territorial Development aims to develop students' expertise in spatial management and sustainable development on regional and local levels (cities, rural areas, industrial districts, etc.) as well as to support policies that integrate economic, environmental, international, intercultural, territorial and context-driven dimensions. To this end, the programme focuses on society and companies embedded in systems of governance and stakeholder participation. The European and non-European students study together at the Università degli Studi di Padova (Italy, 30 ECTS) in the first semester. In the second semester, they move to KU Leuven (Belgium, 30 ECTS). The following year, the programme continues at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon - Sorbonne (France, 30 ECTS) in the third semester. The last semester is dedicated to an internship and a Master's thesis (30 ECTS). Students complete the final semester at one of the three aforementioned universities, or at the Universidade Catolica Don Bosco in Brazil. Extensive experience and international collaboration ensure a multidisciplinary approach that opens students' perspectives to the sustainability of territorial use and organisation, while also confronting them with various policy tools and management strategies in divergent territorial contexts. Candidates are requested to have a first cycle degree of 180 ECTS (licenciatura, academic bachelor degree, diploma di laurea di primo livello, licence) or an equivalent degree (diplôme d'école d'ingénieurs, école de commerce etc.). Ranking criteria: -the students' previous academic curriculum, -their previous professional curriculum and relevant experience, -their language proficiency (English and French are required), -their motivations and the pertinence of their research interests, -their competence in economics. A selection of 70 candidates is made according to the criteria mentioned above and according to the rules imposed by EACEA.
