Program Overview

Program Description:
The aim of the Master of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy programme and its various study tracks in the second year is to train physiotherapists with the necessary knowledge, insight, skills and professional attitude needed to provide expert, high-quality care in the field of rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy. The common additional education and examination regulations (OER) for post-bachelor programmes in physiotherapy and in rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy in Flanders apply. This is a two-year, initial Master's programme and can be followed on a full-time or part-time basis.

Graduates will have a strong theoretical and scientific insight into the field of rehabilitation sciences and physiotherapy. They will possess the necessary skills to plan and carry out evidence based physiotherapy treatment and preventative strategies, including musculoskeletal rehabilitation, paediatric rehabilitation, neuromotor rehabilitation, cardiac/respiratory rehabilitation or psychomotor rehabilitation. Graduates will be prepared to assume leadership functions in the field of rehabilitation and physiotherapy and provide high-quality care.

The Master of Rehabilitation Sciences and Physiotherapy programme is organised in collaboration with the other Flemish universities and taught by specialised and experienced experts in the field. Our international Master's courses are conducted both in smaller groups made up exclusively of international students as well as in larger groups, which include Flemish students attending the Dutch-language version of the programme. Students complete a clinical internship as part of the programme at one of KU Leuven's university hospitals or at a private practice or rehabilitation centre in Leuven.
