Program Overview

Program Description:
The programme will enable participants to:
  • develop an understanding of the history of nursing and healthcare within London
  • develop an understanding of current UK nursing practice and policy, including new developments across settings
  • compare the differences between UK healthcare and nursing with that of other countries
  • explore the history of nursing and healthcare in London through museum visits, historical walks and other activities.

    The Florence Nightingale School of Nursing & Midwifery at King's College London offers a unique opportunity for sophomore and junior year nursing students to participate in a three week summer school programme in the heart of London and learn with leading academic experts at a world class university.

    The programme is offered on either a credit or non-credit basis with 15 UK academic credits awarded to students following successful assessment of a reflective journal.
  • Setting Description:
    One third of the programme will be classroom based in King's College London and two thirds will be spent "in the field" exploring history.
