Program Description:

Over two semesters, the intensive pre-degree program prepares you for the challenge of studying at an international university. All students who successfully complete the program receive guaranteed admission to Jacobs University’s undergraduate programs. Based on your individual academic background, your needs, and goals, you can design your own modular study plan and obtain up to 40 transferable ECTS credits.

ORIENTATION: The program offers orientation possibilities in engineering and computer sciences, natural sciences and life sciences, social sciences as well as economics and management. The possibility to participate in our undergraduate courses from different academic fields, career orientation workshops and academic advising ensures that you can make an informed decision about what major to choose at the end of the year.

PREPARATION: As a Foundation Year student you can choose between a range of intensive preparatory classes that will allow you to improve your study skills, boost your expertise in your discipline of choice or fine-tune your academic English. Optional German classes are offered for those students interested in learning German.

QUALIFICATION: In the course of the program, all students can take the SAT on campus. Intensive SAT training allows you to get ready for the test. If needed, you can also take an English-language proficiency test as part of the program.

Setting Description:
Jacobs University is based in the north of Bremen – a city with a maritime atmosphere and 1,200 years of history. About half a million people live in Bremen, it is easy to get around the city, which has a high quality of living. Jacobs University’s green and tree-shaded 80-acre campus provides much more than buildings for teaching and research. Foundation Year students live on campus in modern single rooms in one of four residential colleges.
Cost:
23000 EUR. The program fee includes all costs associated with the program including tuition, room and board, a semester ticket for local transportation, testing fees as well as the costs for the excursions program.

Requirements:
Please submit your complete application to the Foundation Year Program which consists of: • the online application form • a short motivation statement • your high school transcripts • a reference letter from a teacher or a counselor • a proof of English language proficiency (minimum score of 65 on the TOEFL iBT / 5.5 on the IELTS (UK) / 46 on the Pearson PTE Academic or the Cambridge Certificate (FCE))
