Program Overview

Program Description:
Ithaca’s intensive 10-month M.B.A. program in professional accountancy prepares graduates to provide auditing, consulting, and income tax services for individuals, corporations, and not-for-profit organizations. Professional accountancy candidates complete 12 graduate-level courses. Seven core courses provide a solid foundation in advanced management concepts by blending theory with hands-on practice in analyses, problem solving, and decision making; four accounting courses provide advanced training in the theory and application of financial accounting and reporting, taxation, auditing, business law, and contemporary accounting practices; and one graduate-elective accounting course allows candidates to tailor their degree to their professional goals and interests. Registered with the New York State Education Department, Ithaca’s M.B.A. program in professional accountancy enables graduates to fulfill the 150-hour educational requirement necessary to take the certified public accounting exam in New York. Of the 30 colleges in New York State which offer graduate degrees, Ithaca College currently ranks fourth in the state, based on the percentage of students who passed all parts of the CPA exam.1 Although the M.B.A. in professional accountancy is tailored primarily to students with undergraduate accounting degrees, it is open to candidates who meet entry requirements. Please consult the program coordinator regarding eligibility. 12010 edition of Candidate Performance on the Uniform CPA Examination, prepared by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA).
