Program Overview

Program Description:
Ithaca’s business administration master’s program offers individuals with business and non-business backgrounds the opportunity to earn an M.B.A. degree in as little as 10 months of full-time study. Part-time study is also an option, and a number of our M.B.A. students maintain full-time employment while pursuing their degree. Nine required courses provide a solid foundation in advanced management concepts by blending the formal study of management theory with hands-on practice in analyses, problem solving, and decision making. Coursework also examines contemporary management trends and practices, investigates the challenges of managing in a global economy, and provides opportunities for students to hone the leadership, networking, and communication skills needed for success in today’s business environment. Three graduate elective courses allow M.B.A. candidates to customize their degree coursework to meet their personal and professional goals. Students can choose their elective courses from a wide range of options, including courses offered by other graduate programs on campus (e.g., sport management, communications, computer science, music) or at other accredited institutions. Ithaca's intensive one-year M.B.A. in professional accountancy program prepares graduates to provide auditing, consulting, and income tax services for individuals, corporations, and not-for-profit organizations. The program is registered with the New York State Education Department, enabling graduates to meet the educational requirements necessary to become a licensed certified public accountant (CPA) in New York. Application deadlines: - March 1 if applying for a merit scholarship* - May 15 for fall; November 1 for spring for the M.B.A. program - March 1 for summer; November 1 for spring for the M.B.A.-P.A. program *Merit scholarships ranging from one-quarter to one-half tuition are awarded on the basis of academic merit. Admission applications that are complete and received by March 1 will also be reviewed for merit scholarship consideration. No separate scholarship application is required.
