Program Overview

Program Description:
The full-time programme comprises a propaedeutic, or foundation, year, followed by a three-year main phase. Every year is broken down into four blocks of ten weeks. The programme is made up of a major and a minor. The major comprises the (compulsory) disciplines associated with the programme, while the minor encompasses disciplines you can elect to follow, either in your own programme, in other THUAS programmes or at other universities of applied sciences.

Today’s 24/7 economy is subject to more and more international competition and companies and organisations increasingly need to be, and remain, in control. They need tight budgeting, reliable forecasts, up-to-date insights into their turnover and costs, and better risk management. That’s why good international (business) controllers are in demand. If you are ambitious, conscientious, a genuine team player, you love number crunching and want to work in an international environment then IFMC is just the programme for you.

The emphasis of the programme lies on the disciplines listed below. In a nutshell you’ll learn all about bookkeeping, compiling annual reports, and setting up and structuring management information systems. You’ll also learn how to draw up and assess a business plan and how to set up, structure and monitor a company’s administrative organisation. Information Technology skills are firmly integrated in the business-economics subjects and you will make intensive use of the SAP system.
Setting Description:
Year 1 In the foundation year you’ll become acquainted with every field of business economics. You will, for example, learn how to draw up an investment and financing plan, set up a business administration system, draw up an annual report, identify an enterprise’s various business processes and learn how to effectively organise them. You’ll also learn how to record activities in processes so that the management can use this information to steer the company should it be necessary. Furthermore, you’ll learn a number of essential business skills such as presenting, analysing and reporting. Year 2 This is the start of the main phase when the subjects you became familiar with during the foundation year will be examined in greater depth. You will also acquire knowledge about strategic management, financing and investment decision-making and international legislation. And as you expand your horizons you’ll find them extending further and further outside the Netherlands’ borders. Year 3
Cost:
The tuition fees for subsidized education are determined by the Dutch Ministry of Education. To (re-)enrol tuition fees should be transferred first. You can pay by bank in one or more instalments. If you are paying in more than one instalment administration costs will be charged.
