Program Overview

Program Description:
International Communication Management (ICM) comprises a foundation period of three terms followed by a main phase. The study programme can be completed in a total of three years. It is a so-called accelerated programme, with each year subdivided into four ten-week blocks. The study programme also includes three minors. The programme’s mandatory subjects are offered in the first year and during the main phase. The minors consist of elective courses offered by your own study programme, other The Hague University of Applied Sciences programmes, or study programmes offered by other universities of applied sciences or research universities.

We live in a world in which societies, cultures and economies are drawing ever closer together. For large international organisations it is becoming more and more important – and increasingly difficult – to communicate effectively both internally and externally. Could you act as the antenna of such an organisation, monitoring the latest trends and developments and advising the management accordingly? International Communication Management (ICM) teaches you how to deal with communication issues in an international context.

Communication is a broad subject and the programme features a great deal of variation. It lasts three years and is structured to equip students to master communication at an increasingly higher level. You will be immersed in both the theoretical and practical sides of the subject. Three core values Our study programme is guided by three cores values: excellence, courage and leadership. Excellence is defined as setting out to excel on the International Communication Management study programme. There is no place on this study programme for the ‘a-pass-is-good-enough’ mindset. Courage means having to make a quantum leap every so often and daring to try something different. Leadership is learning to become the architect of your own academic career over the course of the programme by being self-critical and getting the best out of yourself.
Setting Description:
Year 1 In the first year you will become acquainted with the fundamentals of communication as a discipline like corporate and internal communication and branding. In addition, you will learn how to operate in international teams. You will also work on communication issues with external clients. The programme consequently combines both theory and practice. The main phase of the study programme begins during the final term of the first year. Year 2 In the second year you will be immersed more deeply in public communication. Furthermore, we offer you the possibility to take two different minors in the area in which you would eventually like to specialise. Some students will be able to take minors or other subject combinations abroad. Year 3 The third year begins with a third minor, followed by intensive preparation for the second semester, during which you will do a work placement of several months at an international company or organisation abroad. In the third year you will also co
