Learn the tools and practical aspects of event and meeting management. Content includes research, design, planning, coordination, site analysis, feasibility studies and evaluation of events and meetings. Learn best practices in promotion, organization and risk management for seminars, conventions, conferences, trade shows, expositions, and special events of all sizes. Who Should Enroll? Students in the Event Management Certificate Program are typically: 1. Interested in starting a new career in meetings, events, travel, sports, tourism or hospitality. 2. Already in the industry and wishing to enhance their skills. 3. Not trained as a meeting planner or travel coordinator, but charged with handling some or all of event and travel duties for their company or organization and seeking additional knowledge. 4. Established in a career unrelated to events, but desire to start a business in special events or meeting planning. 5. Seeking to earn points for one of the major Event industry certification programs such as the CSEP or CMP. Where Are the Classes Held? Classes for the Event Management Certificate Program are held: Onsite The George Washington University, Foggy Bottom Campus Washington, DC 20052 Online – For busy professionals, course work is available online. Customized – Course work for organizations (corporate and nonprofit) is available via customized training programs, as well as online or in-class. Attention Event Planning Professionals Many of our Event Management Certificate Program courses qualify for continuing education credits towards several of the major Event and Meeting Industry Certification Exams. What is Required? For students interested in the Event Management Certificate Program, classes can be taken one at a time or spread out over a longer time frame. To attain the Event Management Certificate, students must successfully complete the following within 2 years: all four core courses (4.8 CEUs), the equivalent of 3.6 CEUs in elective courses, 100 hours of practicum experience, and preparation of a professional portfolio. How Much is Tuition? Courses: Two-day Course 1.2 CEUs $550 Online Courses: 1.2 CEUs $450 To achieve an Event Management Certificate a student’s investment averages $3,800. There is a one time, non-refundable Certificate application fee of $65. Students pay per class and are not required to pay the tuition in full at the time of registration. Why Choose GWU?
