Program Overview

Program Description:
Gardner-Webb University this week announced plans to play a role in addressing the looming shortage of primary care providers by launching a physician assistant program starting in the Spring of 2014. The plan is based on a true partnership between the university, Cleveland County HealthCare System and community physicians. The PA program will last 28 months and will be broken into two parts. During the first 16 months, students will take classes five days a week for approximately eight hours a day. The second part, 12 months, of the program will feature hands-on learning experiences both in hospital and physician practice settings. Two unique characteristics about the Physician Assistant Program at Gardner-Webb: a. GWU has the only PA Program with a Disaster and Emergency Medical focus b. GWU's PA Program will focus significantly on Underserved Population work
