Program Description:
Fairfield University's Master of Science in Nursing, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner Track prepares advanced practice nurses to provide care to adults in inpatient, community-based, and private practice seetings. You'll learn to assess, diagnose, treat, and evalute outcomes for individuals suffering from a variety of mental illnesses including mood, substance abuse, anxiety, eating, and thought disorders. Psychotherapy and medication management are important components of the curriculum. Clients range in age from adolescents to older adults and are from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic groups. Clinical practice sites span the state and provide experiences in hospitals, clinics, private practices, correctional facilities, and schools.
