Program Description:
Our MAT program is 14 months of full time enrollment and starts in June of every year, leading to both a master’s degree and teacher licensure. You proceed through this professional course of study with a cohort of approximately 20 students, providing you with an opportunity to work closely with other students and to build a culture of support and collaboration. CC’s MAT Program is offered in elementary education, K-12 art, music and foreign languages (French, German, Latin or Spanish) and secondary education in English/Language Arts, math, science and social studies. Priority application deadline is December 1st. Key Aspects of CC’s MAT program… o 14 months, beginning in June of every year o The Block Plan (total immersion in one class for 3 ½ weeks) o Emphasis on hands-on experiences immediately--elementary MAT's work with CC's highly respected Gifted and Talented and WhizBang summer camps as part of the first summer curriculum. o Structured to gradually increase responsibility in the classroom from observation, practicum, student teaching and finally a semester-long internship experience o Completion of a master’s level action research paper o Personalized attention due to small program o Financial aid available (merit- & need-based scholarships, loans) o Excellent preparation for employment with job search guidance
