Trier is the oldest city in Germany and was the capital of the Western Roman Empire in the early 4th Century. The past has filled Trier with stone gates, baths, and amphitheaters from Roman times, 11th Century monasteries, and cathedrals. Located on the Mosel River and surrounded by terraced vineyards, Trier is at the heart of Europe in southwest Germany; within thirty minutes of France, Belgium, and Luxembourg.
