Students study Italian with others from around the world. No previous knowledge of Italian is required.
Overview Italian is offered at all levels. Courses in English are limited. Students do not meet in regular classes with other students, but rather have the concentrated attention and guidance of a single professor for each course. Assignments are often tailored to the student's special interests.
Setting The program is situated in the heart of Venice in a 16th-century palazzo. The interior of the building has recently been restored for instructional purposes. The palazzo is located in the very center of the university area and off the beaten path of tourists.

State University of New York (SUNY) The State University of New York (SUNY) currently offers more than 400 overseas study programs in more than 50 countries: in North and South America, Africa, Asia, Western and Eastern Europe, Australia and New Zealand. SUNY at New Paltz Urbino is the ideal place for a summer course in Italian Language and Culture. It is still a small city where you can get from place to place on foot, and it offers many opportunities for foreign students to meet people from Urbino as well as university students and professors.
Overview Part of the program is dedicated to the teaching of the Italian language while another part concentrates on Italian civilization and culture with a particular emphasis on the Renaissance and 20th century (literature, art, music, cinema, society, history and politics) (afternoon and evening session, 50 lesson hours of 60 minutes). In the evening films will be shown (7 on the whole) and at the end of the week, there will be excursions to artistically important cities in the Marches and neighboring regions as well as walks in Urbino.

Overview The course seeks to provide an introduction to Italian culture and society by presenting the language in a variety of authentic contexts.

Koine Center Koine is a special kind of school set up in 1980 as an association of teachers, all coming from personal and professional experiences in the area of teaching Italian as a foreign language. Koine offers its own didactic methods, text books, cassettes and videos, teachers and more.
Setting Koine opened in Florence in 1980 and has broadened its organization over time, adding to the main school and others. Koine is specialized in research in the field of teaching Italian as a foreign language and seminars in the field of Italian culture, politics and art.
Value The method is aimed at developing the autonomy of the student who is supposed to participate actively in classes. In this way, the student becomes the protagonist and the teacher becomes a discussion leader.

Koine Center You will spend the first week in Florence, attending a group course in daily Italian lessons of 4 hours each. For the second week, you will transfer to a yacht at Elba Island, where you will continue to learn Italian .

Overview Focus will be given to the grammatical structures and to the development of a vocabulary that will enable students to have simple but useful everyday conversations, which will be a support to their Italian experience.

Study Abroad Italy -2 The aim of this course is to extend the development of the fundamental linguistic. This level is available to students who have satisfactorily completed either level one or the entrance exam (written and oral).
Overview Attention will be given to the abilities that can increase the students' capacity to express themselves in more complex situations and extended language exchange as well as revision and extension of the basic grammar structures and focus on more complex vocabulary.

Study Abroad Italy -2 This program level is for those students who already have an active knowledge of the elementary structures of the Italian language. This level is available to students who have satisfactorily completed either level two or the entrance exam (written and oral).
Overview Students will focus on routine tasks requiring an exchange of information on familiar matters, describe backgrounds and understand clear standard speech on matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc. Program is available up to level 6.

NECA NECA was founded to provide university students a quality study abroad program in Florence that meets U.S. university academic standards, and is committed to providing students individual attention in a safe and friendly atmosphere that enables students to study and experience Italian culture.
Overview Students enrolled in the NECA Semester Programs usually choose up to 4 or 5 courses, earning 12-15 credits. NECA also offers Directed Study/Individualized Programs. All courses are designed to stimulate students' interests and to challenge their way of thinking.
