Program Overview

Program Description:
The University at Albany partners with KEI (Knowledge Exchange Institute) to offer a study abroad option at the United States International University (USIU). The option allows students to immerse themselves in the eastern African culture by living in this vibrant city of Nairobi, Kenya's political capital, and the principal economic, diplomatic and cultural center in East Africa. Students can choose from a variety of courses taught in English at the University. Internship and community service opportunities are also available.

The program curriculum offers a wide selection of courses in the following fields: • African Culture & Societies • Business, Law & Diplomacy • Environment & Ecology • Journalism, Communications & Media • Psychology, Sociology & Behavior • Tourism & Hospitality Management All the courses are taught in English. Optional internships (business, media, humanitarian, research, etc.) and community service opportunities are available. Internships (for credit) and community service (not for credit) are organized at various companies, NGOs and humanitarian organizations. The academic calendar at USIU is divided into trimesters, with Fall, Spring and Summer terms. Each trimester is approximately 3 1/2 months. Students can enroll in up to 15 credits per trimester. Academic year (Fall and Spring trimesters) students can enroll in a total of 30 credits. Most courses are 3 credits. Internships are 3 credits
