Program Overview
- Program Description:
- The taught MLitts in Medieval Studies, Early Modern Studies and Modern History are designed to provide specialist training in technical, analytical, and theoretical skills within a properly interdisciplinary environment. They are suited for students hoping to continue into funded PhD research as well as those simply interested in obtaining an MLitt qualification. Training courses ensure that all postgraduate students are given a thorough grounding in the techniques and tools of historical research before they carry out their dissertation during the summer months. Thematic courses range from straight historical subjects to courses in literature, history of art, divinity, and cultural history and anthropology (see individual entries). Students normally take a combination of course work and write a short dissertation. Following successful completion of the programme, students may proceed to the PhD degree.
