Program Description:
The graduate programs in Medical Psychology emphasize research training in health psychology combining psychology with the biomedical sciences. Basic and applied approaches to health psychology and behavioral medicine are emphasized. The programs are designed to train psychologists to become scientists, university professors, health policy-makers, and scientific administrators who focus on the study of behavior and mind as they relate to physical and mental health. These training programs include graduate and medical school courses and teaching experience, but focus on research activities. Training and studies conducted in modern facilities on the USUHS campus, located in Bethesda, MD.

Accreditation:
The University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, and the Medical School is accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. The Department of Defense, the USU Board of Regents, the President of USU, and the Dean of the F. Edward Hébert School of Medicine, actively support and encourage graduate education in the basic medical sciences at USU.
Requirements:
Applicants are accepted as full-time students to the USUHS Ph.D. program and must devote full-time effort to the Graduate Program in Neuroscience. All applicants must satisfy the University requirements for admission. Each applicant must complete a baccalaureate degree from an accredited academic institution before matriculation at USUHS. We recognize that neuroscience students come from a wide variety of backgrounds. A strong undergraduate training in science with completion of courses in biochemistry, biology, chemistry, mathematics, physics, physiology and psychology is desirable.
International Requirements:
Each applicant must complete a baccalaureate degree from an United States accredited academic institution before matriculation at USUHS.
