Program Description:

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering was established in the year 1994.The Division is very well equipped with highly sophisticated facilities and is effectively guided by a group of devoted and diligent faculty. The division was offering P.G course in M.Tech - Power Electronics & Drives from 2002. At present the division has a faculty strength of 21, supported by 4 non-teaching staff. The student strength is around 264 for UG and around 60 for the PG. Students are exposed to new areas like, Computer Aided Electrical Machine Design, Computer Aided Power System Analysis, Power Electronics Application to Power System, Simulation of Power Electronic Systems, Advanced Electric Drives and Control, VLSI Design, Theory and Design of Neurofuzzy Systems, MATLAB Programming and to other emerging areas as Karunya is an University with freedom to modernize syllabi. Compulsory Industrial Training is a part of the curriculum and therefore students are sent for Industrial Training for at least six weeks during the period of study, which is evaluated and reflected in their transcripts.Our programme of associating industries with academics continues by allowing and encouraging students to do their projects in industry and research establishments. As an innovation in curriculum and to offer flexibility to students in choosing subjects of their interest, Choice Based Credit System is offered to students for the last 3 years which the students are making use of to their advantage. Apart from academics, there are Non-academic Activities and Value Education courses for the development of personality of each student. In addition we offer Career Enhancement courses. Modern methods of teaching are also adopted for the benefit of the students. Our aim is to make the EEE division a Centre of Excellence for Education, Research and Consultancy.
