Program Overview

Program Description:
The programme prepares students for doctoral studies, research and careers in the public and private sectors. Core classes focus on micro and macroeconomics, trade policy, regional integration, econometrics, development economics and the international monetary and financial system. The Master programme consists of a set of core classes and choice of electives. Core classes cover: Macroeconomics, International Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Trade, Econometrics (2 Semesters) and International Development. Electives allow students to pursue particular interests. Seminars are offered in the field of Monetary Policy, European Integration, Trade and Policy, Development, Economic History and Econometrics. In addition, students are invited to take courses in the other disciplines taught at the Institute: International Law, International Political Science and History. Students can also take courses offered at the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne. The programme ends with a thesis, which represents a substantial effort as an independent researcher. Work on the thesis is undertaken under the close guidance by a faculty member.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in economics, or a related discipline, or a multidisciplinary Bachelor’s degree in international relations. Applicants to the Master in International Economics must have passed the GRE test.
