Program Overview

Program Description:
This program provides students with the opportunity to explore the unique fauna of Australia, as well as the country's past and ongoing struggle with invasive species. This program is suggested for Biology majors. Field experience enhances classroom instruction at James Cook University in Townsville, Queensland. During the third week of the course, students take a weeklong field excursion to sites near Cairns. Field sites include the Great Barrier Reef, Magnetic Island, and the Daintree National Forest.

Academic Focus: This program is open to all majors, but may be particularly suitable to students with academic interests in Biology. Eligibility Requirements: Minimum 3.0 GPA; BIO 141/142; good academic standing; at least 18 years of age; completion of a full year of college; and currently enrolled in a college/university. Students whose GPA is below 3.0 should still apply, since they may request a waiver.

The total cost of the program includes an academic fee and a program fee for room, partial board, and insurance.
