Program Overview

Program Description:
Students with a bachelor's degree and are interested in teaching can earn a Master's Degree and Nebraska certification in the following grade levels and programs. 4-9 Middle level or 7-12 Secondary: College graduates who want to teach high school (grades 7-12) or middle school (grades 4-9) can earn both their Nebraska teaching certificate and Master’s degree through College of Saint Mary’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program. This program is an accelerated program with course offerings on Saturdays and can be completed in one year plus a semester of student teaching. Fall or spring start date. K-6 elementary education and K-12 ESL: College graduates who want to teach elementary school (grades K-6) can earn their Nebraska teaching certificate, an ESL endorsement, and Master’s degree through College of Saint Mary’s Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) elementary education program. This program is an accelerated program with course offerings on Saturdays* and can be completed in two years. Fall semester start date only.
