Program Overview

Program Description:
Learn the skills, knowledge, and attitudes appropriate to a variety of outdoor recreational activities at Central College Abroad Outdoor Pursuits program in Bangor, Wales. Follow a process of experimental learning in the outdoors where students are required to be self-motivated and responsible for their own development. Course content includes rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, raft building, rappelling, camping, mountaineering, and hiking. Throughout the program, students can expect to be challenged physically, mentally, and socially. By the end of the course, students will demonstrate skills in problem solving, communication, group and team work, leadership, and reflective thinking.

The program fee includes the following: 1. Tuition for 6 semester hours of credit (3 exercise science, 3 cross-cultural) 2. Housing in student dormitories 3. On-site orientation, advising and oversight by Wales program resident director 4. Personal Central College Abroad Advisor for pre-departure support 5. Optional online pre-departure course 6.
