Program Overview

Program Description:
The programme provides knowledge and associated skills in the broad field of electrical engineering, as well as a specialized treatment of Communications topics. Communications is one of the dominant themes in modern electrical engineering, and its study extends from electronics and electromagnetics to digital signal processing and microwave engineering, alongside direct communications topics from modulation to networks. Over the four year programme a range of skills-based, generic subjects will be sustained in order to develop versatile graduates as ‘life-long learners’. Such subjects will include Communication Skills to develop the use of English language, Professional Development, Computing and a range of liberal studies. Management and business related topics will be offered in the later years of the programme in the form of electives to give the students an appreciation of the commercial and economic context of the subject. The approach within the specialist subjects will also be to give students an understanding of fundamental principles together with the capacity to keep abreast of knowledge.

The programme comprises an interrelated set of ‘subjects’ arranged in a progressive sequence through four years. Students must study a total of 144 credits in the whole programme. The Major Subjects carry 3 credits, except the 5 laboratory courses, where each carries 1 credit, and the Design Project (Parts A, B and C), which carries a total of 7 credits, reflecting both the time allocated to the project and its importance in the programme as a whole. The programme comprises a number of separate but interrelated 'Subjects', each carrying a designated credit value. The full programme contains a proportion of 'General Education Subjects', 'Major Subjects', 'Electives' and 'Free Electives' Subjects, in accordance with recommendations from the Office of the Commission for Higher Education.

Although large in campus size, Asian University is small in student numbers. In classes of less than 20 students, interaction is intense and studying is based on projects and cases. No chance to get a good grade for memorizing the textbook - our lecturers aim to make you understand as they do.
Setting Description:
You want to study in fresh air, surrounded by plenty of nature, in a relaxed and quiet environment, and in close interaction with your fellow students and lecturers within small groups? Welcome to Asian University! Established in 1997, Asian University is the first fully international university in Thailand. The university is located in Chon Buri province approximately 150 km from Bangkok, and a short 25 minutes drive from the beach resorts of Jomtien and Pattaya. In small classes with intense teacher-student interaction, innovative educational approaches like active learning, peer-to-peer instruction, and minimally invasive education are the rule, rather than the exception. The courses are taught in English. All lecturers were educated at western universities; about 80 percent are native speakers of English. Beyond their academic qualification, all lecturers draw from extensive practical experience. The university has all the facilities of a modern university, including dormitorie
