Program Overview

Program Description:

Begin your school year with an arrival orientation followed by an intensive language course. Students live with YFU host families in the area and attend classes during the week. At the end of this course, you will move to your permanent host family who will host you for the rest of your stay while you attend school. Once in your new host family, you will begin to get a feel for the Polish way of life as you take classes and make friends at your new high school in Poland. Your host family and classmates will show you all the best parts of Poland and give you the chance to improve your grasp of the Polish language. From the large cities like Warsaw and Krakow to the small towns and the countryside, Poland is as beautiful as it is fascinating. As you explore Poland, you'll find an experience to take back with you.

Youth For Understanding USA's (YFU) high school study abroad program is an experience that will immerse you in the lives, languages, cultures, and communities of a real family on one of more than 40 countries around the globe. YFU is a homestay experience where you live with a carefully matched host family who has agreed to open their home and their hearts to you---providing room, board, and a caring home. You'll gain a global family, make new friends, and even attend a new school on academic programs. Previous language study is not required.

YFU programs make lasting, life changing impact on young people. YFU students return as young adults---more independent, competent, and confident---with a deeper understanding of their family and country. They also discover that the YFU experience opens doors for many years to come, enhancing educational and professional opportunities.
