Program Overview

Program Description:
A great way to gain experience living and teaching in a foreign community, while also making a positive contribution to international development.

WorldTeach is a non-profit, non-governmental organization founded by a group of Harvard students in 1986 in response to the need for educational assistance in developing countries. It also addressed a growing interest among people in the U.S. and elsewhere to serve, teach and learn as volunteers overseas. Since its inception, WorldTeach has placed thousands of volunteer educators in communities throughout Asia, Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe and the Pacific.

Setting Description:
WorldTeach has been invited by several different types of institutions throughout Ecuador to provide English language training, and as such, volunteers work with a diverse array of students. Although teaching placements vary widely by city and the type of host institution, the majority of WorldTeach volunteers in Ecuador teach English in university or community classes with older teens and/or adult students. Most placements are located in cities and large towns, largely due to the nature of the institutions we partner with; however, each year there are also smaller communities that host volunteers.
Cost:
The cost of the Ecuador yearlong program is $4,590. The cost of the Ecuador semester-long program is 3,590 This includes pre-departure information and preparation, round-trip international airfare, health insurance, 4-week long in-country orientation, transportation to your site, meals and housing during orientation and throughout your teaching service, and 24-hour field support. WorldTeach Ecuador volunteers receive a monthly stipend from their host institution once they begin teaching. Half o
