Working in an under resourced environment is a challenge. Tropical diseases that don’t exist in the western world are commonplace and patients delaying treatment until conditions have progressed significantly is a daily occurrence. You will undoubtedly use and develop skills but there is also excellent experience to be gained in areas that you have previously only read about in textbooks. Our unilateral exchange programme uses the fees paid to reward individual mentors, wards and departments at the hospital, as well as to train local staff to manage sustainable projects.
- Setting Description:
- Our Work the World bases in Ghana, Tanzania, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Argentina provide a huge variety of flexible placement opportunities, as well as giving you access to miles of beautiful beaches, stunning rainforests, amazing wildlife, beautiful natural wonders, rich cultures and warm, friendly people. Facilities, equipment and resources available are likely to be far more basic than you are used to back home and you will experience many differences in your working day, some connected to the diseases and conditions which patients have, others that are more cultural.
