Program Overview

Program Description:

WiIlliam James College offers 63-credit Master of Arts (MA) in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with an emphasis in Couples and Family Therapy. Graduates will meet the educational and pre-master's field experience requirements to become licensed as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) as well as a Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Massachusetts.  This dual licensure track makes graduates highy competitive for employement.

Our area of emphasis is called Couples and Family Therapy instead of Marriage and Family Therapy. We are intentional in the use of the name we selected because we are inclusive of all couples and families, as not all couples are married.

In fact, 93% of our Counseling graduates secure a job within 6 months of graduation. The Counseling MA and Couples and Family Therapy emphasis is built around a flexible delivery model that can be individualized for each student, including both full and part-time options.

We enroll new students into our Clinical Mental Health Counseling MA program every January and late August. We offer scholarships and financial aid.
