Program Overview

Program Description:
Wake Forest University's Master of Arts in Counseling – School Counseling online program is dedicated to educating students to pursue careers as highly-skilled counselors, who are committed to serving the needs of children and their families. Working in K-12 schools, students excel as community leaders, advocates and practitioners who model compassionate service and promote prevention, early intervention and wellness of children around the world. School Counseling Certification/License: The Wake Forest counseling program helps prepare students to pursue careers as school counselors. As a NCATE-accredited program, the program of study through the Department of Counseling meets the licensure requirements for most states. However, in some states, school counselors are required to also have a teaching credential and/or teaching experience. Students are responsible for verifying licensure requirements for their individual state. Certification and Licensure (Counseling) Program graduates are eligible to take the National Counselor Examination for Licensure and Certification (NCE). The NCE is used for both national counselor certification and state counselor licensure qualifying examination.
