Program Overview

Program Description:
This is an intensive program, aiming to introduce students to theoretical and practical knowledge of all aspects of museum organization, management, marketing and communications. The program will benefit students in their professional or academic development as multidisciplinary specialists. The focus is on European archaeological and history museums, although individualization in research and practice will provide student-specific theoretical knowledge and immersive practical experience.

History, art, numismatic and archeological artifacts research and documentation from field to exhibition. Fundraising and sponsorship programs development and practices. Marketing research on museum publics. Permanent, temporary and traveling exhibitions development and marketing.

Museum staff, archeologists, historians, and lecturers will work together, helping students to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge of real life professionals. Intensive training will immerse students in all aspects of museum organization and work culture. The individual coursework research will lead to personalized program experience. It will empower students to pursue their own path as knowledgeable specialists, creatively contributing with their professionalism to museums worldwide.
Setting Description:
The theoretical lectures and most practice work will be held in the Regional Archaeological Museum of Plovdiv. The city is one of the oldest in Europe and will be the European Capital of Culture in 2019. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to travel and visit more than 20 museums in Bulgaria. They will explore collections and sites that made world headlines, seeing treasures exhibited in the Louvre and the MetMuseum, and featured in National Geographic and Archaeology magazines.
Cost:
• Tuition, full board and materials fee starting at 1390 EUR or 1500 US Dollars and including: • 14 overnights accommodation in 3 stars hotels based on double occupancy, • Full board (breakfast, lunch and dinner) at a buffet settings or preset menus, • Study materials (printed and digital), Project Handbook and Project Guide, • Excursions as per program, • Entrance fees in museums and cultural heritage sites • Certificate of attendance • Credits: starting at 340 EUR/ 370 US Dollars
