    Classes

Our teaching replicates the Oxbridge undergraduate system in which all teaching is conducted in small group seminars and one-on-one tutorials. Students can choose two subjects from a wide range of both science and humanities to study during their time with us.

    Subjects

Our strong focus on academic excellence means our programmes develop students’ subject knowledge and understanding beyond what is learned at school. Students benefit from a level of individual attention rarely possible in most schools, taking them beyond learning by rote and enabling them to discuss and hypothesise.

The confidence developed through debating subjects with peers and tutors means Cambridge Summer College students stand out when interviewing for a prestigious university place.

    Activities

Although academic study is the main focus for students attending Cambridge Summer College, every afternoon after class, students get to relax by taking part in a range of activities in and around Cambridge.  These range from museum visits to scavenger hunts and traditional British games like croquet and rounders.

    Excursions

During the two-week programme, students go on excursions to different cities across Britain. These trips provide students with an insight into British culture and a chance to see what makes Cambridge so special and unique.

Students visit sites of interest, museums and  historic buildings as well as having some free time to explore the area independently. Previous visits have included London and Cambridge’s rival university, Oxford.

    Safety and Welfare

Oxford and Cambridge are both very safe cities and our students stay in the university colleges which are secure and supervised 24 hours a day. College porters are on duty both day and night and programme staff live in the college and are available and contactable at all times.

Students are required to check in with staff at meal times, in lessons and at evening curfew.

On arrival, students can be met and chaperoned from the airport to their programme. All students receive a welcome pack with maps and emergency contact numbers.
