Program Description:

The USAC programs in Spain open an academic window on the Spanish and Basque people, introducing you to the rich diversity of the Iberian Peninsula. As a USAC student you have the opportunity to study intensive Spanish or Basque and to take elective courses in English or Spanish in a variety of subjects such as European Union, Spanish Culture and Civilization, Art History, International Environmental Health, Contemporary Spanish Cinema, and Foundations of Western Culture. The USAC program is located at the University of the Basque Country in BilbaoGetxo, an affluent community popular for its beaches and lively nightlife. The programs include field trips for USAC students to areas of interest in and around the Basque Country as well as an optional tour of Madrid. Qualified students participating in the BilbaoGetxo program may apply for program internships for which you earn academic credit.

Program fees include tuition, housing in an apartment, student health insurance, field trips and some entries to museums and cultural events.

Setting Description:
Bilbao is the poster city for successful urban renovation and the home of the spectacular Guggenheim Museum of Art. Modern day Getxo has a population of approximately 85,000 and is an affluent community popular for its beaches, lively nightlife and diverse cultural activities.
