Program Description:
A one-year professional Master of Environmental Science (M.Env.Sc.) designed to train individuals to understand the mechanisms, and deal with problems, associated with the transport, distribution and fate of contaminants in surface and near-surface environments. Holistic integration of a broad spectrum of cognate disciplines: e.g. geochemistry, biogeochemistry, microbial ecology, hydrogeology, hydrology and hydrodynamics, sedimentology, geophysics, soil science, aquatic ecology, atmospheric physics and chemistry, climatology, etc. Two distinct streams with lectures, laboratories, fieldwork and either: a Research Paper (Program I) or a four-month Internship (Program II). Part-time students (Program III) can follow either route. Objective: to produce skilled practitioners of environmental science, well-trained in theoretical, laboratory and field techniques, primarily to meet the needs of industry and government, but also to provide an excellent basis for pursuit of a Ph.D.
