Program Overview

Program Description:
The primary aim of the graduate program in Criminology is to provide students with opportunities for advanced multi disciplinary study and supervised research experience pertaining to crime and the administration of criminal justice, and more generally, processes of social order and disorder. The program familiarizes students with existing bodies of criminological knowledge, and develops critical, analytical and methodological skills. It is not a training program in forensic science. Rather, it is designed to educate students for careers in teaching or research in criminology as well as jobs in which the ability to evaluate criminological research critically is necessary or desirable.

The Combined JD/MA program is designed for law students who also want to pursue graduate work in criminology. The Centre of Criminology is a collaborating department for the Collaborative Graduate Program in Women and Gender Studies, and the Collaborative Grduate Program in Addiction Studies(CoPAS).
