Program Description:

University of the Pacific’s Conservatory of Music, in conjunction with Pacific’s Gladys L. Benerd School of Education, offers a Master of Music in Music Education degree program designed for students with an undergraduate degree in music education. Students complete 33 units of coursework and, given proficient performance on coursework and examinations, graduates of the program are eligible for a Teaching Credential in Music.

The Music Education program offers a core course of study along with numerous electives that provide an individualized program that caters to each student’s specific career goals. Students choose to pursue a thesis-based research track, or a non-thesis advanced technique track, both of which include ample opportunity for independent research, regional fieldwork and experiential learning.
