Program Description:

The University of the Pacific Conservatory of Music offers a Master of Arts in Music Therapy program designed for students who hold an undergraduate degree in music therapy and are looking for advanced-level clinical or research practice and secure a competitive position in today’s rapidly growing health care system. The program consists of 36 units with either an academic thesis track or clinical clerkship track. Students pursuing the Master of Arts in Music Therapy at Pacific are able to focus on their specific personal career goals by selecting one of two tracks supporting a) development of advanced clinical, administrative, and program development skills, or b) preparation for eventual entry into teaching and research careers.  

Both the academic research and clinical preparation tracks of the Music Therapy program allow for flexible study design and personalized mentorship to support students’ specialized interests and goals. Coursework affords depth and breadth in knowledge and skills for advanced Music Therapy competency. Many students participate in research, clerkships, fieldwork or mentored college teaching. Course topics include Advanced Theory and Techniques, Music Therapy Supervision, Music Research and Advanced Clinical Practice.
