The College of the Pacific Master of Communication (MA) is a graduate-level program that consists of 28 or 32 units taught over the course of four full-time semesters or on a part-time schedule. Students complete academic courses on Pacific’s Stockton campus, mastering knowledge and skills in communication theory, methodology and practice. They emerge prepared to start management-level careers, solve communication-related work problems or enter top doctoral programs.
Students select a concentration in one of four areas – Communication Education, Communication Studies, Political Communication or Media and Public Relations – each of which integrates coursework from related disciplines, providing every student with a broad background in the study of communication. Field studies, internships and research-based learning experiences are often included in graduate curriculum. Students are given the option to pursue either a thesis or non-thesis track.
