Program Overview

Program Description:

The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) offers a 36-credit online Master of Education-Instructional Specialist program that provides advanced professional education knowledge and skills for application in school and non-school settings. Students pursuing the Master of Education-Instructional Specialist may choose to concentrate course work in the areas of bilingual education or early childhood education.

Both Master of Education-Instructional Specialist degree plans include the following:

  • Professional Development Core (12 credits)
  • Bilingual Education or Early Childhood Education Concentration (24 credits)

 

To complete the program in two years, a student would need to take two courses each semester and each summer. Other options for completing the course sequence in more than two years are available.

Texas ESL supplemental certification coursework is included in the Bilingual Education degree. Students will be eligible to sit for the TExES ESL Supplemental Certification Test.
