Program Description:
The Womens Health Care Graduate Track (WHC) prepares graduates to be specialists in the multi-dimensional care of women within a primary care focus. Health promotion, health maintenance, and health restoration are studied across the lifespan with a holistic, developmental focus. Emphasis is placed on the effects on womens lives from health care practices, teaching and health policy. Students can select from the following roles: nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialist, educator, or administrator. Nurse Practitioner students are qualified to apply for designation of Advanced Practice status in the State of Texas and the Association of Womens Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nursings (AWHONN) National Certification Corporations (NCC) certification. NP students may also be eligible for certification as Adult Nurse Practitioners.
