Program Overview

Program Description:
The Educational Leadership Program is designed for educators who want to become principals or assume other administrative roles in which districts may require a Type 75 certificate, such as deans, department chairs, athletic directors and curriculum directors. The program culminates with candidates earning a Master of Science in Education degree and a State of Illinois General Administrative Type 75 Certificate. The purpose and intent of the Educational Leadership Program is to prepare educators to be competent administrators who promote the success of all students, who make ethical decisions, and who can articulate a clear vision and sense of identity and purpose within a community. Program features include: * Classes meet one night per week during the fall and spring semesters. * Courses are eight weeks long. * Courses meet in five-day modules over the summer. * The program can be completed in six semesters. * Convenient Cohort Locations The College of Education can customize concentrations to meet the specific needs of a particular cohort of professionals, school or building.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 2.75 (on a 4 point scale). Currently teaching license from the state of Illinois. Recommended by current administrator.
