Program Description:
The Master of Science in Nursing program focuses on the expansion of nursing knowledge to prepare clinicians for an advanced practice role. Emphasis is placed on developing nurses who will assume a leadership role in the health care delivery system and the nursing profession. The MSN program curriculums are built on a strong foundation that includes substantial theory, research, public policy and ethics content to prepare nurses for clinical practice and leadership roles in health care. Concepts in advanced practice such as adult health, health promotion, health policy, health care delivery systems and educational foundations and practices are important components of the program. Completion of the MSN program qualifies graduates for certification examinations and application for advanced practice licensure. Students in USF’s MSN program can complete the degree in three years on a part-time basis. Classes generally meet once a week. Students may take two courses each semester. Individually arranged clinical experiences will be scheduled off site. Concentrations/Tracks: * Adult Nurse Practitioner - track of study is offered completely on-line. Adult Nurse practitioners provide primary health care in the community setting and in-patient facilities. * Clinical Nurse Specialist - track of study is offered completely on-line. Clinical nurse specialists leads in improving care through education and consultation as well as providing a role model of professional practice.

All programs are accredited by the North Central Association - Higher Learning Commission. Nursing is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Schools (CCNE).
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4 point scale). Possess current RN licensure and provide letters of recommendation from current employer.
