The newest department in the Faculty of Science, Biochemistry and Microbiology provides an integrated facility for training and research in the biomolecular field, with applications in medicine, agriculture and the rapidly growing area of biotechnology - the industrial application of biological processes. The synthesis of these fields into a single department creates fertile soil for exciting new developments in basic biology and its application to the needs of communities.
